Ágoston Béla QRtet: Bar-Tokio

This concert will be a special occasion not only because the Ágoston Béla QRtet will be presenting their album Joculator City, but also because they will be joined by guest artist Okazaki Masato, a Japanese master of the dalang (singing saw) who lives in Budapest. Masato studied Hungarian in his native country and became a fan of Béla Bartók's oeuvre. This shared vision inspired the QRtet to perform improvisational renditions of some of Bartók's themes. The traditional sound of the jazz quartet will thus alternate with contemporary musical moods in the style of Béla Ágoston, which is infused with elements of folk music and free jazz, spiced with a touch of subtle humor.
