Stand Up Roma felhívás / Horváth Kristóf „Színész Bob”: Cigyar Magány - PREMIER
2026-02-01T19:00:00.000Z
Cigyar Magány is both entertaining and deeply confrontational: it uses humor and irony to highlight typical situations that reveal the uncertainty and fears behind social prejudices. A "Gypsy Window-Giraffe" – an easy-to-understand dictionary for coexistence, where the Roma perspective is not a goal but a tool for a shared journey of self-discovery.
"It has often caused me a dilemma, as a half-Gypsy, how much of a Gypsy I am, whether I have enough to do with all this... These are my memories, my own experiences, but I think if there is one thing that is true for all Roma, it is that we all know what it is like to live as outcasts..." (Kristóf Horváth)

Kristóf Horváth, known to many simply as "Actor Bob," examines the social and personal functioning of shame in his stand-up performance, organized around memories and memory processing. He asks the question of how much of each memory is his own and how much belongs to the Roma community.
In his Berlin performance Talking Human, which can be considered a precursor to this show, Kristóf explored his relationship with his Roma identity, which he learned from his mother, and now expands on this theme through the medium of stand-up comedy.
The aim of the Stand Up Roma competition, organized in collaboration between Trafó and Független Színház Magyarország, is to provide a space for storytelling from a Roma perspective and to create opportunities for new productions in which creators with Roma ancestry are in decision-making positions. The winning projects—Rudolf Forgács, Csaba Gerner and Edina Tallér, and Kristóf Horváth's "The Works of Actor Bob"—address the issue of self-representation from different perspectives and experiences. The title of the competition refers, on the one hand, to the genre of "stand-up," which uses humor and (self-)irony to poke fun at prevailing stereotypes and reflect candidly on current social processes, while on the other hand, in its more activist sense, it also explores the possibilities of joint action and advocacy.
