Fortuna Leguminosae – fortune telling with beans – community workshop

2026-02-28T13:00:00.000Z

What can you fit into a handful of beans? Visions of the future, stories, games—and a little magic.

Bean divination is an ancient form of fortune telling known in many cultures: it is serious and playful, ritualistic and liberating at the same time. In this workshop, we are not looking for answers in the strict sense of the word, but learning to pay attention: to patterns, associations, each other's stories.

Our joint work begins in the exhibition space: we will look at related works by artists Fuzzy Earth (Gedeon Tekla and Sebastian Gschanes) and Zsófia Szemző as possible starting points. The impressions, feelings, and thoughts we gain here will continue to work with us throughout the workshop.

After the ritual, we will sow real seeds: everyone will plant the seeds of the bean group they felt most connected to.

At the end of the workshop, we will conclude with a shared meal—conversation, knowledge sharing, and slowing down.
