In the Clone Row quartet, four renowned composers and improvisers navigate the maze of Ches Smith's latest compositions. The swirling, interlocking guitar parts are complemented by a unique rhythm section that doubles the sound with the simultaneous use of drum machines and acoustic drums, analog synthesizers and double bass, digital sampling and repetitive motifs. The four musicians dive headfirst into an endless chain of composition and improvisation, and the chemistry of their sometimes coherent, sometimes chaotic dance is ensured by mutual respect and friendship.
