The first tangible fruit of the Wakan trio's collaboration is the album Being Dantès: a repertoire of compositions in which familiar melodies find their way into complex and unique structures. The material was inspired by the first part of Alexandre Dumas' novel, in which the imprisoned sailor Edmond Dantès gradually transforms himself to be reborn as the Count of Monte Cristo. The soundscapes transport us to a world where, for the protagonist confined within harsh walls, silence and the perception of the slightest sounds together unfold a completely new dimension of existence.
Tomorrow Is Minimalist. Three Independent Motions. Tall, Infinite, Microscopic. T.I.M.'s music, oscillating between light and shadow, acoustic and electronic sounds, explores the concept of randomness, the functioning of memory and its disintegration through folk songs, improvisations and childishly playful lyrics. What becomes of beauty when it fades away? What becomes of memory when we finally forget it? In an age when we are faced with the extinction of species and cultures and should strive for zero growth, T.I.M. proclaims in its music that minimalism is the future. The trio consists of two Norwegian avant-garde musicians, Karoline Wallace and Inger Hannisdal, and French pianist Sébastien Palis, who also composes their repertoire. The band's new album will be released in 2026 by BMC Records.
