Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell aims to explore, understand, or if not possible, at least ask the questions leading to the understanding of the broadest universe. The European Union is democratic. Or is it?

What does democracy mean in a complex system like the EU? How much real say do we have in decisions? How does decision-making work behind the scenes – and how transparent is it all? Where is the line between representation and detachment? And ultimately: is the EU close to us, or rather a distant, hard-to-understand system? Through such questions, we aim to understand the functioning of the European Union and its role in our society through a multi-perspective discussion.
