BMC Records Goes Live | 3grams: Schiefel – Moir – Volkmann (AU/DE)

Three wind instruments, three types of alto: 3grams explores its repertoire through the intimate sound of a trio consisting solely of vocalists and a saxophonist. In the program of this ensemble, formed by saxophonist-composer Luise Volkmann, the worlds of pop songs, contemporary music, and free improvisation flow seamlessly into one another, while their pieces resonate in tones that are by turns lyrical, humorous, and wistful. However, what makes 3grams special goes beyond their unusual lineup, as they don’t even need a stage to perform: they’ve given concerts in the forest, at Gothenburg Central Station, or while cycling through the city. The ensemble, which balances between a jazz trio and a sound art performance, will also record an album for BMC Records during the concert days.
