Schedule

The Shakar Trio was formed in April 2022 by three young musicians from Budapest: Marci Székely on drums, Milán Papp on guitar, and Bálint Lendvai on keyboards. They are strongly influenced by the contemporary Hungarian jazz scene, but also draw inspiration from international influences: the fluidity of Scandinavian jazz and the dance-oriented nature of Balkan music are both evident in their work. Their goal is for their music to evoke a universal catharsis, to stir something within the listener.

The band’s set consists entirely of original compositions and improvisation. They love to blend genres and strive to guide the audience into their own universe. This is primarily instrumental storytelling: they gradually transition from slower pieces into a danceable soundscape. At many performances, they are joined by a guest musician on a wind instrument; there is no permanent member for this role, so each concert offers a completely new and personalized experience.

Location

A38 Ship

Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
