Grotesque Gymnastics - The Anatomy of Failure // Trafó
The human body is a basic experience. In both directions. (-,+). An intermediate effort to make existence in it bearable. We eat the painkillers, have a foot day, tanning, courting. It's an elite act. The circus's tool is the body of the performer, the theme of the performance is the body of the performer. It breaks, it tears, it bleeds, then it mends. In the performance, sounds, words, phrases burst from the broken body. Because a man lives in the body. The talking man. The Anatomy of Failure is an intimate, intimate, but not without conflict, relationship between the body and its owner.

Schedule
It is based on a 35 year old female artist's self-confession, a documentary transcribed on a tape recorder. The question is how our own stories are written through the scars etched into our bodies. How this shapes our personality, whether we can know our original essence only through our broken states and how our environment is connected to it all.
"It's 7:45 in the morning... um... I was up until 2:30 and now I'm awake. And I hope you can hear this thing I'm talking about... I woke up and I shouldn't have at all... My ankle hurts and my back hurts. I don't really want to talk, it would be much better if my thoughts could just be heard. Another day and I wake up and my body hurts again."
