Opera in three acts
Tuesday, 20 June, 2023
17:00 - 22:45 (with two intermissions)

Schedule
In 2013, the annual festival of the "Bayreuth on the Danube", the Müpa Budapest Wagner Days, added a new work to its repertoire, the German composer's comedy opera The Nuremberg Mastersingers. Adam Fischer, a native speaker of Wagner's music and a highly acclaimed Wagner conductor who has been a guest at Bayreuth several times, brought world-famous singers to Müpa for this production. Eric F. Halfvarson has already been seen and heard as Gurnemanza in Parsifal and as Hagen in The Ring of the Nibelung. In 2013, Klaus Florian Vogt and Annette Dasch appeared for the first time at the Wagner Festival, and Bo Skovhus from Denmark, who studied to be both a doctor and a singer, made his debut in the Nuremberg Master Singers. His career choice was finally facilitated by a stunning production of Don Giovanni, which has since taken him to the world's major opera houses and earned him the title of "Chamber Singer" of the Austrian State. Also new this year was James Rutherford, one of Britain's outstanding young opera singers. The director, set and costume designers are a close-knit team, having worked with Michael Schulz, Dirk Becker and Renée Lister on the complete Ring tetralogy, which was staged in Weimar and released on DVD to great acclaim from audiences and critics alike.
