Point of Few
The Czech quartet Point of Few's fresh sound is an organic fusion of electronic and popular music and contemporary jazz. Most of their unusual compositions are co-composed, so the original sound of the band is actively shaped by the individuality of each of the four members.

Their main sources of inspiration are the New York jazz scene and musicians such as Justin Brown, James Francies, Jeremy Dutton, Mark Guiliana, Donny McCaslin, Robert Glasper and Charles Altura, with echoes of Pat Metheny and Bill Frisell, and a preference for popular music that draws on the work of David Bowie, Radiohead, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Anderson Paak.
The band was founded in 2019 by guitarist Radim Přidal, and is made up of prominent, mostly young players on the Czech jazz scene. In 2020, they released five live session videos, recorded in a variety of often startling settings. They used the time of the pandemic to produce new material and continue to work on their artistic sound, resulting in a mature and sophisticated debut album. The title, Open to Closeness, also suggests extra-musical references: 'In today's society, everyone lives in isolation, in their own shell, whether it's a city, an apartment or a car. We think that we have subjugated our environment, that we can be independent of its influence, that we would even be without it. We are now beginning to get to the point where we ultimately have no choice but to come out of our shell and find new ways to live intimately with nature."
