Ti'Kaniki is a collective from Lyon, made up of members from France and Réunion, people of different origins, who play maloya, the traditional music of Réunion Island. Originating from the slavery era, maloya was long played at secret celebrations, the cabarets, where slaves would reaffirm their desire for freedom with ritual trance music.
