Korine + M!R!M

Our previous two events gave you a taste of the Italian Avant! Records' magical musical universe. Founded in 2007, the Bologna-based label has become a major player in the dark-underground scene, focusing on quality rather than quantity... and of course, sparkling diversity, as Andrea Napoli's label is as much about blackened post-industrial, grim EBM, deep dark post-punk and passionate darkwave as it is about romantic synthpop.

After Nuovo Testamento and SDH, two more bands from the label's house are now visiting us.

Morgy Ramone and Trey Frey's 2017 debut, Philadelphia's Korine, emerged from the merging world of ultra-dark synthpop and dark-toned postpunk, full of romance and overflowing sincerity in their music. In March this year the duo released their third album, the emotional and captivating 'Tear', which blends 80s new wave nostalgia with modern pop elements - shimmering synthpop music, with the captivatingly melodic and sensitive songs that can now finally be heard live, as they return to Europe for a solo tour after last year's highly successful WGT debut, with Budapest also on the bill.

The other guest of the evening will be the Italian-born Jack Milwaukee (Iacopo Bertelli), currently living in London, who will be performing with M!R! M, who on last year's excellent Time Traitor album (on which both Nuovo Testamento and SDH contributed a track), wanders from spherical synthpop to dreamy dreampop to postpunk wrapped in elegant sadness - while adding sparkling italo elements true to his Italian roots. He evokes the neon-lit atmosphere of the '80s with a brilliant sense - but he evokes it, not copies it, his music is contemporary and forward-thinking in every flavour. We've already seen and heard him at the Dürer Kert in 2018 with The KVB, and now he returns with two great albums of material.
