The pedagogy of liberation
The aim of the pedagogy of liberation is to enable oppressed people, through shared learning, to make sense of their own social situation, to develop critical consciousness and thus to be able to change unequal social relations. Over the course of six days, participants will learn about the principles, history and methods of critical pedagogy in an interactive way, and will then be given increasing scope to bring their own methods and themes to the group work.
Between the three sessions, participants will be asked to implement a teaching exercise, which we will help them to plan.
Schedule
🙋🏼♂️ Who are we waiting for? Educators, trainers, volunteers and activists working for social justice. Preference will be given to those who are themselves members of a disadvantaged group and to those who can implement the pedagogical work in an existing group.
The training will cover the following topics:
📍 Social inequalities, political participation and education
📍 Participatory action research, Forum Theatre and other non-formal participatory methods
📍 Examples of critical pedagogy in Hungary and worldwide
📍 How can participants put into practice what they have learned?

👥 The training is delivered by Panni Végh (Artemisszió Foundation) and Tessza Udvarhelyi (School of Public Life).
💸 Participation in the training is free, but if you can pay the 40.000 HUF/person participation fee or a part of it, you will contribute to making our trainings accessible to everyone in the long run.
We also provide lunch during the training and, if needed, childcare, travel support and accommodation.
