Schedule
The science lectures, richly illustrated with pictures, will be held on three consecutive Tuesdays: on 14 February, Freemasonry; on 21 February, Kabbalah; and on 28 February, the relationship between the two. The lectures will draw on the results of research using sources from nearly 100 archives, museums and collections in eighteen countries on four continents.
The final part of the lecture series will explore the relationship between Freemasonry and Kabbalah through the Kabbalistic-Masonic artwork of a Tokaj-born Masonic rabbi active in Paris in the 1830s. The large-scale images, rich in symbolism, shed light on why and how the rabbi combined the best-known imagery of the Kabbalah with Masonic symbols, and why Kabbalistic numerical symbolism was well received in contemporary Masonic circles.
