William Rezé, based in Angers, France, started releasing music under the name Thylacine in 2012, mainly through his own label Intuitive Records. His debut EP, also titled Intuitive, features a series of pulsating electropop tunes recorded with singer Camille Després. He also appeared on 2014's Singles and Blend, the latter featuring Dylan Nichols (aka Dyllan), who also sang on 2015's Exil. Thylacine's debut album, Transsiberian, was released the same year, evoking a train journey. The single "Train" was remixed by Kompakt's Michael Mayer.
Rezé was then asked to write a number of film scores. The track "Lone" was written for the film De toutes mes forces, and his original soundtrack was for Gaspard va au mariage, released in 2018. Roads Vol. 1 was recorded in a mobile studio during a trip to Argentina and released in early 2019. His second release, an EP, followed in 2020. Timeless, released by Sony Masterworks, features compositions based on the melodies of classical composers, including Beethoven. Sony/Milan released Thylacine's recording in 2021 on a compilation album that included recordings by Jean-Michel Jarre and Cerrone, among others, alongside pieces by other French electronic artists. Thylacine's fourth album, 9 Pieces, was released in October 2022, bringing listeners a bigger, deeper and more successful intercontinental journey than ever before.
Location
A38 Ship
Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
