We think the duo of Anna Szalai and Gergő Dorozsmai really needs no introduction. Filled with melancholic self-irony and sombre but liberating, sometimes raw chanson, 2021's 'Nobody's Talking' resonated perfectly with a period soured with covid and general nihilism. It was at once an ageist and a way of showing a side of Anna that her past and present in the punk milieu might often have disfigured and exaggerated.
Two years have passed and the duo have chosen a new name and album title: L.A. Suzi. L.A. Suzi, the new name of the duo, has been named L.L.Suzi. The 17th album, NAGY, takes the duo in a whole new direction: post-punk, new wave, disco, but also a few tracks of chanson. It's a cavalcade of styles that might be nauseating at first, but Anna and Gergő's persona makes the songs fit together so well and builds a universe. It's a second debut album free of conformity, liberated but by no means lost.
