Pieces of Peace is a culmination of Kris Defoort's career, in which the Belgian composer-improviser and pianist brings together all the musical experiences he has gathered throughout his life. Together with vocalist Veronika Harcsa and three instrumentalists, he has formed a true chamber orchestra, but his compositions not only speak the language of jazz and improvisation, which is the focus of his work, but also transfer the timbre, dynamics and dramatic expressiveness of a classical - operatic, if you like - large orchestra to the ensemble.

Intimate and joyful, playful and complex, lyrical and rhythmic, the songs present a richly detailed impression of real life, while bowing to the instrument within the human body, the singing voice.
Pieces of Peace is based on the musical ideas of Veronika Harcsa and Defoort's earlier collaboration, but this time the duo has expanded into a quintet, offering all the hope, tenderness and inspiration that is often missing from the lives of modern people. The material was first released on vinyl on 6 October on W.E.R.F. Records, with an extended version due out on BMC Records in CD format in early 2024.
