A documentary feature film about the life, human relationships and family break-up of a working couple with housing problems. Irene, a young working-class woman, lives in a one-bedroom apartment in the outskirts of the city with her young daughter, living with her husband's parents while he is in the army. The family is plagued by murderous arguments and quarrels, and the return of her demobilised husband does not change this. In fact, the father manages to arouse his son's jealousy against his wife, who is left without protection.
The film won the Grand Prix at the 1979 Mannheim Film Festival and the Hungarian Film Critics' Prize in Budapest, as well as the Best First Director and Best Cinematography prizes.
