A melancholic sound from the southern corner of Scandinavia, as cool and versatile as the country it echoes from. The 53-year-old Jay-Jay Johanson's ethereal vocals work well on sweeping trip hop beats and elevated synth pop instrumentals too, across more than a dozen great albums. Bowie-esque chameleon influence, and a healthy portion of the Radiohead effect, all dressed up in a sovereign, self-renewing guise - come and see Sweden's Thom Yorke this spring on the boat.
A38 Ship
Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
