A unique family band formed in 2004 by parents and their children, the Karaván Família has created its own world in recent years, based on the Gypsy vocal tradition. With their repertoire they have proven that Gypsy music is intelligent and witty, wise and inclusive. The source of their melodies is not a region or a Roma ethnic group, but the European Gypsy cultural and musical heritage. Their songs are influenced not only by the different styles of typical European Gypsy music, but also by Latin music, blues and pop music - all of which have given rise to a world music never heard before.
But despite all this diversity, the Karavan Família has managed to maintain its own style, which is both youthful and traditional, fun and lovable.
A38 Ship
Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
