Szántusz Noya Noémi: Because it would be so boring without me
When you sit in front of the students of the School of Drawing and Painting, you are the model, you are the protagonist. Everybody is busy with you. Then you ask them to put in an Eminem song. And you notice that your focus shifts to them, and you're in the audience of a performance in which they're painting you. In the conceptual performance 'Because it would be so boring without me', viewers can try out what it's like to sit in a model's role, take home artwork of themselves, and meet the ladies and gentlemen who, for the most part, don't paint or draw as a civilian occupation, but then what do they do?

What if there is no predefined, precise scenario, but the participants of the performance, the school members and teachers, and the models of the moment, decide how the time frame is to be spent? During the performance, there is the possibility of a continuous role reversal between spectator and creator, but it is also possible that no one will think of such mischief. During the event, there will be drawings and paintings of the audience, which they can take away with them.
Who are the performers in the performance: those who are painted or those who paint? What will the arc of the performance be, where will there be tension, will the dramaturgy be interesting enough? Can the civilian participants on stage remain authentic? Is the story of the other person interesting for us? Will we listen? This performance tries to break all the established theatrical rules, but it still imagines itself as theatre.
Szántusz Noya Noémi Szántusz met painter Balázs Fischer and artist András Mohácsi at the Jurány School of Drawing and Painting during her modelling work. Both the medium and the context were so inspiring that the idea for this performance was born after the first few sessions. Noya then invited the members and their masters to create a collaborative work.
