The Willany Leó Improvised Dance Theatre, unique in Hungary, will celebrate its 15th anniversary in 2023. With our programme we want to focus on a detailed presentation of the key role of improvisation both in our performance and through open workshops.

While dance is the focus of our performances, introductory sessions and Wednesday night Trafó evenings, we also want to raise awareness of the vital importance of the other arts without which the special occasions of the past 15 years would not have been possible.
The use of space and composition, harmony and disharmony, presence - some of the theatrical archetypes that are part of our everyday lives, if we are able to recognise them in our daily routine. Improvisation, be it dance or instrumental playing, challenges the creator(s) to respond spontaneously as part of a collective creativity, and thus produces an optional outcome hitherto unknown. Our aim is to convey the concept of improvisation and to help the public to understand it.
Trafó House of Contemporary Arts
The Trafó House of Contemporary Arts in Budapest is a unique venue in Hungary, embedded in the international contemporary scene, where different genres - theatre, dance, new circus, music and visual arts - are presented in a unique and authentic way.
