The sloth and the carp
Il Bradipo e la Carpa' (The Sloth and the Carp), an adaptation for the stage of Roberto Quartarone's book 'Due Eroi in Panchina' (Two Heroes on the Bench) - is the story of the friendship between the two Hungarian coaches Istvan Tóth and Géza Kertész. The backdrop is the Italian football pitches of the 1930s - which the two revolutionised with their ideas - and the city of Budapest, involved in the events of the Second World War. The two friends tell each other, without sparing irony and sarcasm, the happiest events of their lives, in a crescendo that brings together football, love, the beauty of Italian cities (Catania and Trieste in particular), up to the tragedy and delirium of the last years of World War II.
