Recirquel: Solus Amor
A few years ago, a new genre was born in Budapest: the works of Bence Vági and his globetrotting new circus company Recirquel were the first to be classified by foreign critics as belonging to the genre of cirque danse, which they had invented. The meeting of new circus, classical and modern dance creates a hybrid blend on stage: acrobatics serve to dazzle and amaze, while dance offers the opportunity for self-expression, the conveyance of subtle nuances of meaning and storytelling.
Bence Vági's production emphasises the primordial and eternal nature of love. This strong foundation is supported by the circus as a dramatic and profound, but playful cohesive force. In terms of its genre, it is new circus, moreover, the so-called cirque danse, an invention of its own. In addition to the people breathing, dancing, flying, rain-dropping together, the bear puppet, often featured on the covers, designed by South African puppeteer Janni Younge, is ambivalently full of life.
