◖ Shri Abhisek Lahiri ◗

Abhisek Lahiri, one of the most acclaimed sarod artists in India, who won many awards at a young age (the sarod being one of the ancient basic instruments of North Indian music), inherited his high level of instrumental playing from his father and early master Pandit Alok Lahiri, who is also an accomplished sarod player. And although he has been influenced by other sarod schools and masters (he has been taken on as a student by several great masters, a rare honour in India), Abhisek Lahiri has created his own unique style of playing and poetic musical language, which has won him countless accolades around the world. Abhisek's albums Sparkling Sarod and Mood of Puriya Kalyan were nominated for Best Album at the Global Indian Music Awards in 2010 and 2014, and he has played with legends from his country such as Hariprasad Chaurasia, Shivkumar Sharma, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad Rashid Khan - but also played at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Olympics in Greece and many others with Indian-born wind instrumentalist Deepak Ram.

◖ Somdatta Chatterjee ◗

One of Abhisek Lahiri's partners in the SamVaad project is singer Somdatta Chatterjee, also born into a musical family, who was first trained by his father, in this case Shri Subhasish Chatterjee. Apart from the parallel, there are also family ties between Abhisek Lahiri and Abhisek Lahiri, as the two artists are husband and wife and have been performing together for a long time. Somdatta Chatterjee is a practitioner of the Agra Gharana tradition and style of Hindustani classical vocal music - he has also learnt from the renowned singer and veteran guru of Agra Gharana, Vidushi Subhra Guha.

◖ Ishaan Ghosh ◗

Abhisek Lahiri's other partner in the SamVaad project is Ishaan Ghosh, who plays both tabla and sitar, and stands out as one of India's top young tabla players, whose father, like the other two members of the trio, is a renowned musician and tabla and sitar master Pandit Nayan Ghosh. Over the years, he has earned considerable acclaim as a fully-fledged soloist and artist.
