The drifting world of Meybahar was born from the meeting of Greek and Hungarian cultures, from the moments when Marilia and Márton first met and played music together on the island of Crete.

The captivating sound of the Greek santoor ('santouri' is a cousin of the Hungarian cimbalom) and the violin form a perfect pair.
The orchestra is directly inspired by the musical roots of the Aegean Sea and Asia Minor cultures, the ancient Eastern modal musical heritage and the music of today.
With a change of instrumental line-up from 2022, the traditional Greek vocal repertoire has been brought to the fore, with the voice of Aphrodite Radis and the ud playing of János Gerzson.
The band's latest single Afousis (Fonó-2023) and the accompanying and the music video for it, is a beautiful deep ballad from the Greek island of Kassos.
