Karzatkoncert: organ sound in a new dimension
Have you always wondered how Bach's Toccata in D minor sounds on the Müpa Budapest organ? Ever wondered what it was like to sit in monumental cathedrals and enjoy the music? In Müpa Budapest's new series, entitled Karzatkoncert - organ sound in a new dimension, you will not only experience the unique sound of one of the world's greatest concert hall organs, but also see the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall in a completely different light.

For our brand new classical music series, we've come up with an unprecedented solution: our organ recitals, lasting around an hour, will be performed exclusively from the stalls. And why? In the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall, the canopy, which is normally only suspended from the ceiling, will be lowered to the ground floor, the space will be bathed in a mysterious yet spectacular light, and the audience will be able to take their seats on the same level as the organ. This gives you a much more immediate aural and visual experience than usual when you join us for concerts that include some of the instrument's best-known hits as well as some real treats.
László Fassang, the organist in residence at Müpa Budapest, who himself helped to design our organ, is the creator and first performer of the Karzatkoncertek, and the next two events will feature the most promising members of the new generation of organists, Zsuzsa Németh, Alan Zsilka and Péter Mekis, who will show the audience the music they would take with them to a desert island.
