LIBERTINE LITERARY BREAKFAST - Szabados Ági talks to writer Rita Halász

Years in the making, her first novel, Deep Air, had a big stake: could Rita Halász write a novel? The answer was not long in coming, as the book, which follows the fate and thoughts of Vera, a thirty-something woman fleeing an abusive marriage, was shortlisted for the Libri Literary Award 2021 and won the Margó Prize for best first fiction in the same year. Rita is also a master of the short story genre, as she has shown in the collection of short stories she has put together for the third birthday of Libertine Bookshop in Budapest. Libertine and bookshops will certainly be on the agenda at the April literary breakfast, when Rita Halász will be the guest of Ági Szabados. On Saturday 20 April, at 10 am, we are again looking forward to a good-humoured, literary-focused discussion on the Julius Meinl stage of the Spielszín.
