The touching story of an unlikely couple - a wheelchair-bound aristocrat and his nurse, a young man in a suburban slum who has been in prison - is one of honest friendship and a relationship that defies prejudice... Made in 2011, Lifelong Lovers is based on a true story. In 1993, Philippe Pozzo di Borgo, managing director of the prestigious Pommery champagne factory, is paralysed from the neck down in a paragliding accident. At the age of 42, he is faced with feelings of exclusion and helplessness. Abdel, an immigrant, is also confronted with this, but he is ostracised by society because of his origin and social status. Perhaps that is why Philippe chooses him as his carer out of dozens of applicants. They later write a book about their discovery, and a documentary and a feature film are also being made. This is an enlightening tale of mutual acceptance, adapted for the Hungarian stage for the first time at the Playhouse!

With our 140,000 viewers, that's you, we are a community that values lightness as well as sophistication, and we work in that spirit. Our repertoire includes stage versions of many world-famous films - familiar or well-known stories, brought to life by our popular actors at arm's length for a unique and unrepeatable experience. Among our film adaptations, City Lights, with its spectacle and movement, is unique in the theatre palette, while The Lifetime Lovers, Flowers for Algernon and the stage version of the Italian cult film Total Strangers are among the most sought-after productions in the capital. There is also a huge interest in our classic comedies - including The Bachelor's Party, Be My Wife! and Eight Women. Menopauza has exploded into our repertoire with elemental force, and for our 10th anniversary, the divas Mariann Falusi, Judit Hernádi, Erika Náray, Timea Szőlőskei, Andrea Szulák and Enikő Tóth are preparing a new version. Our latest productions include two crime thrillers: the classic Agatha Christie story The Witness for the Prosecution and the modern take on the story, The Domino Murder.
