Sakobi: Banzai! (CZ)

Sakobi brings together three distinctive voices from the Czech jazz scene: Radek Zapadlo, Vilém Spilka and Martin Kleibl. The three musicians have been working together on various projects for years, and in this trio they capitalise on the musical friendship and intuitive ensemble playing that has developed as a result. Their repertoire includes jazz standards as well as original compositions, which can be heard on their two albums released by Bivak Records. Although all three musicians are involved in developing the pieces, the majority of the material is written by Vilém Spilka, who draws inspiration from such diverse sources as the atmosphere of his hometown, Brno, or even Japanese culture. Sakobi’s work is rooted in the jazz tradition, yet remains open to the influences of folk and numerous contemporary genres, thereby creating a dynamic, colourful and distinctive musical world.
