TEST pres. MALA (DMZ, Deep Medi – UK)

We are thrilled to announce that the godfather of dubstep is returning to Budapest!

When it comes to the spiritual, visceral side of low frequencies, Mala is an indispensable reference point. As a member of Digital Mystikz and co-founder of the legendary DMZ club nights in Brixton, this South London producer wasn’t just part of the birth of dubstep—together with Coki and Loefah, they laid the genre’s foundations. Over the years, his own label, Deep Medi Musik, has become the scene’s most important benchmark for quality, where no-frills musicality and heavy basslines exist in perfect balance.

Mala’s sets are never about cheap sensationalism; rather, they’re a meditative yet relentlessly massive inner journey. In the spirit of classic sound system culture, her 140 BPM, slow-breathing rhythms and chest-thumping bass become a truly physical experience on the dance floor. To this day, his bag still holds his treasured dubplates and genre-defining anthems, delivered without any unnecessary posturing.

Once again, well-known names and up-and-coming talents from the local scene will provide the perfect warm-up, ensuring a seamless transition between dubstep’s past, present, and future. It’s rare to get such a clear, direct lesson in the power of the sub-bass, so this evening is recommended not only for die-hard fans but for anyone with an open mind when it comes to music. See you in front of the speakers—meditate on bass weight!
