The Kerekes Band—winners of the Franz Liszt Prize and two Fonogram Awards—brings to Babel Kert the sweeping energy we’ve come to expect from them, the wild solos of the shepherd’s flute, and folk grooves that delve deep into the world of outlaws. Having toured 33 countries over the past 31 years, the Kerekes Band remains the most energetic world music band on the scene: cutting-edge ethno-funk, liberating Csángó boogie, and wide-ranging rock ’n’ roll. Their concerts are characterized by a pulsating “stadium-folk” atmosphere, accompanied by miraculous healings and psychedelic visions.
