Paris, May 1968. Students take to the streets to protest against the French education system. Workers soon follow suit, and within a matter of days the number of protesters swells to such an extent that it begins to pose a serious threat to the existing political system. Isabelle and her brother, Theo, are left alone in their parents’ spacious, city-centre flat. On the street, they meet Matthew, an American student who arrived in Paris just a few days earlier. The siblings invite him back to their flat. The three of them set the rules for living together, through which they explore their own emotional and sexual identities. *The Dreamers* is a journey of initiation: the three young people try to discover themselves through the experiences they gain whilst living together.
