Pecha Kucha Night Budapest vol.86 Budapest100 special edition

2026-05-08T17:00:00.000Z

This year marks the 16th edition of Budapest’s largest community festival!

Budapest100 was launched 16 years ago with the aim of celebrating the city’s 100-year-old buildings. The festival has grown year after year and has become increasingly popular among city residents. Thousands of volunteers and millions of memories are tied to those days when Budapest’s historic houses open their doors and welcome visitors with boundless warmth. Following the themed events of recent years, this year the festival has returned to its roots: opening the doors of houses celebrating their 100th anniversaries.

As part of the opening of the 16th Budapest100 festival, we’ll get a glimpse into the experiences of previously opened houses and how the festival has enriched their diverse communities, as well as learn about the current transformations of our houses built between 1916 and 1926—the theme of this year’s festival—all in Pecha Kucha format!

Whether you’ve never been to Budapest100 before or you have fond memories of it, join us!

About Pecha Kucha:

Pecha Kucha is an open forum where young designers, creators, and artists can meet and introduce themselves to one another and to interested attendees. The idea began its global conquest in Tokyo, and today these chatty evenings are held in more than a thousand cities, from Rovaniemi, Finland, all the way to Kansas City, USA. The rule is the same everywhere on Earth: each presenter can show 20 slides for 20 seconds each—so a fast-paced show and a great atmosphere are guaranteed!

Since 2006, the Contemporary Architecture Center (KÉK) has been the organizer of Pecha Kucha evenings in Hungary. KÉK’s goal is to create open forums for collective thinking and discussion about the city, thereby making contemporary issues in architecture and urban development accessible to the general public.

Video recordings and photographs will be taken of those attending the event!

The event is supported by the National Cultural Fund.

The event was organized by KÉK, and you can also support our work by donating 1% of your taxes. To do so, please find our details on the KÉK website: https://www.kek.org.hu/a-kék-ről/támogass-minket
