Újbuda’s most exciting revitalizing architectural complex celebrates autumn against a unique industrial backdrop: on Saturday, October 31, 2026, the courtyard and monumental silo hall of the Hengermalom will transform into a haunted castle, creative workshop, and seasonal gastronomic gathering space. The organizer, MALOM SOCIETY, aims to welcome both local neighborhood families and the urban crowd looking for a casual autumn toast.
Located near the Danube riverbank, MALOM SOCIETY launched its community and event space on the ground floor of the Budai Hengermalom this summer. The team’s goal is to gradually reintegrate this former industrial heritage site into Budapest’s cultural life through community-driven use. On the final day of October, the complex’s iconic, raw concrete silo space will also open its doors to visitors.

Halloween Family Afternoon at Hengermalom 🎃👻
On the final day of October, we are opening the doors of Hengermalom to neighborhood kids and families for an unconventional, atmospheric Halloween afternoon! We warmly welcome everyone young and old from the area, neighbors, and friends—let’s spend the evening together in one of Újbuda’s most unique industrial spaces!
Here is what we have in store for you:
🏰 Haunted Castle in the Silo – With two separate routes:
For this afternoon, we will completely transform Hengermalom’s monumental concrete silo with eerie lighting and mist: ● 🧚 Elf Trail: a friendly, fairy-tale, and gentler journey of discovery for the youngest ones. ● 👻 Spook Trail: a thrilling path filled with monsters and ghosts for older kids and the bravest explorers!
🎃 Creative Corner & Crafting:
We are preparing with community pumpkin painting and a monster drawing contest, where everyone can create their favorite character.
🍬 Candy Hunt:
A true Halloween cannot go without treats—find the goodies hidden around the Hengermalom courtyard!
🍕🍷 Gastronomy for Parents and Kids:
While the kids are exploring or in between adventures: Pizza Society will be serving fresh, hot Neapolitan pizzas stretched on-site all afternoon—alongside classic favorites, we welcome you with a special pumpkin, sausage, and ricotta pizza crafted for this day, which adults can pair with great wines from the Ábrahám Winery!
