Catalan Jazz on Tour | Clara Lai Trio (CAT)

As both a pianist and a composer, Clara Lai seeks to explore the subtle overlaps between improvisation and composition. She is able to draw on her studies in this regard: she first studied classical piano, focusing on the contemporary music repertoire, and subsequently obtained a degree in jazz piano. She currently lives in Barcelona, where she takes part in various projects within the jazz, improvisation and experimental scenes. Her trio, featuring Àlex Reviriego and Oriol Roca, released its debut album, *corpos*, in 2022. The ensemble explores the processes of collective creation by delving into different soundscapes, compositional possibilities and languages of improvisation. Their music is energetic yet contemplative, incorporating elements of aleatoric and noise music, long silences and sparse melodies.
