“I don’t want to compete with the news feed—I’m trying to be a counterpoint to it.”
Our “Piston Dialogue” interview series returns with Dr. Tamás Gerő. Our topics so far have included public affairs, the rule of law, and a literary discussion with András Kepes; now, shifting the focus to sports, we’ll thoroughly discuss the decisive moments of the World Cup and its victorious outcome.

Our guest is János Kele, who has been writing and talking about soccer in various formats for more than ten years. He has served as a television “expert,” written a blog, produced an underground podcast, published articles in print and online publications, and launched a YouTube channel. He is currently a regular contributor to 24.hu and the host of the soccer podcast *Ziccer*.
With unusual candor, he analyzes both top-level soccer events and the realities and contradictions of Hungarian soccer. Since 2024, he has also been running his own Substack channel, where he addresses an audience of several thousand subscribers on the tactical, cultural, media market, and political contexts of soccer. He consistently advocates the view that soccer is “the most important unimportant thing in the world.”
The discussion begins at 7:00 p.m.
Please arrive on time to secure a seat, as our event is free and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
