🔴 **URBAN EROTICA 2026 – Gyuricza: JOY – Vernissage**
🕖 May 13, 2026 (Wednesday), 19:00
📍 Turbina Cultural Center
1082 Budapest, Vajdahunyad Street 4.

🎨 Gergely Gyuricza’s exhibition *JOY* centers on affirmation of life, desire, élan vital, physicality, and the intensity of human presence.
The core idea of the exhibition—also known from the artist’s novel *Freefall*—is captured in the line:
“Eroticism is the antidote to death.”
Here, it appears as an artistic statement in favor of joy, sex-positivity, and vibrant existence.

The exhibition approaches desire not as a taboo or a source of shame, but as an essential dimension of identity, connection, and inner vitality.

The paintings—mostly created from memory—are characterized by vivid colors, concentrated human representation, and intentional incompleteness. Each piece features a single figure in a confident, self-aware posture. At the same time, this incompleteness subtly softens that certainty, reminding us that confidence is not an innate, permanent trait, but a fragile, ever-changing state that must be continuously re-formed.

In this sense, the exhibition also raises the question of sexual resilience: the ability to rediscover a freer, more accepting, and more life-affirming relationship with one’s body, desires, boundaries, and vulnerability.

The exhibition is part of the **Urban Erotica Contemporary Art Festival**, accompanied by professional talks, roundtable discussions, workshops, and theatre performances—further expanding on themes of identity, intimacy, sexuality, and vitality.

Curator: Zsuzsi Nagy – cultural organizer

During the evening, a light painting/mapping by Gergely Szabó (Spade) will also be presented, projected onto a more than 2-meter-high black-and-white painting by Gyuricza.
