How would we explain to a child the system we live in? Could we have a meaningful discussion about it? A fictional tribe, through the expropriation of an apple tree—almost by accident—invents capitalism. From this emerges a research-based, tabletop performance that unfolds before our eyes the workings of the concepts of labor, trade, and property.

In their first collaborative work, Orsolya Fodor and Péter Varsányi set out to understand capitalism. Like all serious research, this too begins on an internet forum called Quora, and from there leads all the way to a tribe that accidentally invented capitalism. What happens when two naive, pure-hearted puppet directors encounter a tribe of wild capitalists? Who colonizes whom? What should a person do in life if they are Péter? And if they are Orsolya?

This time, the directors take the stage to rewrite the myth of capitalism with the power of all their creative and research experience and their friendship. By combining video, tabletop games, mockumentary, and lecture performance, the show explores what lies on the horizon of the system, both here and beyond. yén, Tamás Frank, Viktória Háfra, Szandra Szőke, Mari Varsányi, Mihály Teleki
