Abigél Event Salon
Our event venue is located in the V. district, in the unique environment of the Zichy Palace, right next to the Basilica. The Abigél Event Salon guarantees a high quality of events held here, with its elegance, intimacy and technical professionalism.
The history of the building extends back to 1840, when Lipót Boskovitz and József Hild made up the plans of this beautiful classicist style building. However, it only became reality in the 20th century when Count Ernő Zichy and his wife, Baroness Ilona Lo-Presti De La Fontana d'Angioli-a member of the Spanish noble family- asked an architect called Zsigmond Quittner (the designer of the Gresham Palace and the current version of the Ministry building) to modernize the house.
A classicist sculptor Lőrinc Dunaiszky's statue called the Korsós woman is located in the inner courtyard. In the film version of Magda Szabó's legendary novel Abigél ,the protagonist was transformed into this miraculous image in the courtyard of the Matula Girls' Education Institute. Wishes are still placed in its jar to this day. This statue is the denominator of our Event Salon.
In 2022,the house and the event hall underwent a complete renovation. We took great care to preserve the historic style and elegance of the house and to find harmony with the art deco style at the same time. Regarding to the vision and the colors, we decided to combined the marble floor with black and gold accessories to raise the elegance and countenance of the event venue. The milieu of the reception was created by Hacienda Lakásstúdió, and the pictures of the contemporary painter Endre Hajnal makes the atmosphere of the rooms complete.
