Peca
"Afro-Caribbean perch beef in Hungarian paprika flour" is Peca's self-definition. And the rhyming biography describes the mood of the music: "we have the band, we can play our music: rumba, reggae, cumbia, Balkan and Afrobeat, about fishing, about love, literally and figuratively, in Hungarian and Spanish. From the Danube to the sea, Black and Caribbean, summer evenings, lanterns, dancing barefoot until dawn."
Schedule
The Peca band was founded in 2003 in Budapest by Barna Gábos, who started making music at a very young age, self-taught and with an unwavering dedication. Although they have already released three albums with long breaks, they are essentially a concert band, in which the music of different cultures can be linked in a unique way. In addition to Hungarian folk music, there is a significant place for West African traditional influences, Afrobeat and Latin music, but also the entire musical spectrum of Eastern Europe and the Balkans. This broad repertoire is an inspiration for the members of the orchestra, who individually represent a wide range of styles, from ethnic to gypsy and world music. It is dynamic, percussive music with instrumental and vocal tracks.
