Sári Fedák - Nelli Szűcs' solo evening

"The performance was created with the aim of reviving the memory of one of the greatest Hungarian actresses of the 20th century, to provide the audience with the details and truth of her extraordinary life, and to give her justice for the injustice she suffered. It was an unforgivable crime of the post-World War II political regime that Sari Fedák was sentenced to prison on unjust and unproven charges and was never allowed to perform on stage in her beloved country. When it finally became clear to her that there was no return to the stage, she collapsed, and it was this condition that caused her untimely death.

The material of the memorial evening was partly collected from his memoirs, the book "You only sleep now, Lily...", partly from other memoirs, letters, the materials of the Institute of Theatre History, old magazines "Theatre Life". Songs from her most famous roles are also included, recalling the figure of this great lady of Hungarian operetta.

Those who have seen her on stage will never forget her. Her extraordinary personality, her exceptional individuality left an indelible mark on our theatrical life. Of particular interest is the person of the artist who conjured up Sari Fedák - Nelli Szűcs. She is a native of Berehovo, her roots are connected to this city, just like her great predecessor. With extraordinary empathy and sensitivity, she participated in the editing of the evening, in finding its main emphases, in planning and inventing the concept.

With this evening, in addition to commemorating Sari Fedák, we would also like to achieve her public rehabilitation, and to stop the spread of false and untrue rumours and allegations about her. Let us finally see this great artist in his true colours, with all his great human qualities, faults and weaknesses.
