Schedule

The Magashegyi Underground went from being an early discovery of Petőfi Radio to one of the most important bands in the Hungarian alternative music scene. The band was founded in 2004 by Máriusz Fodor, but it really found its true voice with the entry of singer Bíborka Bocskor: the songs she recorded with her, Szeplős Váll and Anglia, quickly made the group famous. Their style defies categorisation: their urban folk music often has electronic influences and, despite their strong songwriting vein, they are not afraid of darker tones.

They have released five full albums to date (A Thousand Forests 2010, The Day After Yesterday 2013, The Sea Found 2016, My Secret Life 2020, The Road to One Another is Short 2023), and their radio songs (Metro Wire, Shake Up, Shadows, Rainy Day, Eyewords, Moonlight City) have given the group a steady presence and many invitations to perform: They first wrote and performed a joint MÜPA evening with Krisztina Tóth, and then in 2020 they released their album Titkos életem (My Secret Life), which contains all the songs written to the poet-writer's poems.

After Bíborka Bocskor's one-year maternity leave, the group returned to the concert stage in 2021, rested and with renewed energy, to the great delight of their fans. In December 2023, they released their latest studio album, "The Road to One Another is Short", on which the core team responsible for the songs of the band's "peak period" worked together again. The new material has been warmly welcomed by critics and fans alike, and several new songs will have a place in the setlist that spans the full span of their 18-year career.

Location

Akvárium

As they describe themselves, it is Budapest's most frequented venue, which is also multifunctional. Akvárium is great for award ceremonies, afternoon coffees and, most importantly, concerts, thanks to the well-picked, cross-genre selection.
