Overkill is an American thrash metal band formed in New Jersey in 1980. Their name was chosen after Motörhead's 1979 album Overkill. With their early fusion of punk and heavy metal, Overkill were one of the first thrash metal bands and have been a constant presence on the international scene since their beginnings.
