Dresch Quartet

Mihály Dresch formed his first band in 1986 with the aim of creating a unique musical style. Its main elements were the improvisational experience of jazz and the Hungarian musical tradition. This effort was recognised with the Kossuth Prize in 2022.

His quartet has existed in its current form for eight years. The quartet has had a musical relationship with Miklós Lukács (the internationally renowned cimbalom player) for 20 years, and also includes Marcell Gyányi on double bass and László Csizi on drums, both of whom are outstanding representatives of Hungarian jazz.

The Dresch Quartet's latest album Live in London was released in 2024 on Morotva Records.
