Defenseless Story – An Exhibition by Visual Artist Sándor Imreh (Menetmen)
We warmly invite you to Sándor Imreh – menetmen – Defenseless Story, a solo exhibition at Kastner Kommunity!
Opening event: May 13, 2025, 6:30 PM

Schedule
This exhibition presents the winner of this year’s Kastner Kommunity Art Open call: the latest works by Sándor Imreh, all created with graphite pencil on wooden panels. The pieces build a bridge between two stylistically distinct worlds: one evokes a strict, brutalist-geometric visual language, while the other leads into a fairytale-like, almost naïve realm that is new to the artist. Through this imaginative space, the artist offers a sensitive reflection on the rapidly changing world around us—one that often leaves us feeling vulnerable and exposed.
The title of the exhibition carries a dual meaning. It references the sense of defenselessness many experience in today’s world, while also drawing a parallel with Michael Ende’s novel The Neverending Story, in which the realm of imagination offers tools and hope to overcome the challenges of reality. In a similar way, Sándor Imreh’s drawings may provide a new perspective on the uncertainties of everyday life.
