I-Jazz | Marco Centasso – Um/Welt (IT/TN)

The German word Umwelt means environment, literally the world around us, and biologist Jakob Uexküll applied it to the specific perspective from which living organisms perceive the world. In this sense, the Umwelt of individuals is not merely their environment, but the subjective universe they perceive, the horizon of their relationship to the world, which both defines and shapes the way they exist, experience and communicate. The Um/Welt project, led by composer/bassist Marco Centasso, explores how these different worlds can interact with each other, creating new spaces for dialogue between musicians, where sound can help us to transcend the boundaries of human communication.
