Schedule

Between 17 and 20 August, for the 39th time, the largest folk art festival in the Carpathian Basin, the Festival of Crafts, will be held. The family festival, reminiscent of the fairs of yesteryear, will take place in Buda Castle, from Mihály Táncsics Street to Szentháromság Square and Tárnok Street, and will be open to the public free of charge as part of the state celebrations. Our guest of honour is Azerbaijan.

Here, those who want to have a good time can feel as if they have escaped from everyday life and entered a medieval whirlwind, where criers, stilt walkers and showmen create an inimitable atmosphere. Visitors can not only buy the most beautiful handicrafts, but also try their hand at ancient crafts.

Nearly a thousand craftsmen, hundreds of performers, all-day stage programmes, craft demonstrations, folk playhouses, shows, costume demonstrations, gastronomic shows, exhibitions and dance halls await visitors.

Families will be entertained with children's concerts, lap games, storytelling and dance classes, and craft activities such as net knitting, carving, quilting and hunting hat making.

In addition to our best dance troupes, the best of Hungarian folk and world music will perform, while during the day there will be fairground comedy and puppet theatre, and in the evenings concerts will entertain the audience at the largest and most prestigious folk arts festival in the Carpathian Basin.

Location

Budapest

The best things to do in Budapest! Several medieval bridges connect the 2 sides of the city that give it its name: Buda and Pest. Cruising along the Danube is a great way to see Budapest in all its glory.
