The aesthetics of juiciness: gooey, spicy, succulent, exciting, gross, and sensual.
What are you doing? Look at you! It’s dripping from your mouth…
Sit down properly when we eat! A girl doesn’t do that. A decent boy doesn’t do that either. — talking point —
Look at you. Are you going out in front of people like that?
Don’t touch it! It’s not proper to grab it! — irresistible —
What do you think cutlery is for—so you can eat with your hands and feet?
Do you really dare to let yourself do this in front of others?
All signs point to Villő Juhász daring to allow herself to break away from those all-too-frequent „behavioral suggestions.” She eats, interacts, and exists exactly as she pleases—and sometimes, exactly as the situation demands.
Eating (consumption) as a source of joy; the feeling of being free to eat whatever I want. This raises many questions about people’s—and primarily women’s—relationship with food. We hear countless remarks not just about how we eat („eat nicely,” „don’t play with your food”), but also about how it will affect our bodies. How does our emotional state influence our relationship with eating? And how does our emotional relationship with food influence our lives?
„If I were you, I’d reconsider what you’re ordering. What does it look like when a little girl gets herself all messy?” a grandmother asked her four-year-old granddaughter in a restaurant by Lake Balaton. „If you really want it, I can’t stop you, but just know that everyone will be talking about us.”
What exactly is that „everyone” talking about?
Why should I have to look pretty while I eat? Or while doing other „gooey” things, like brushing my teeth?
These are actions that satisfy primary needs; the goal is simply to be healthy.
